There have always been millions of reasons for people to get tattooed. According to The Online Tattoo Museum the ancient tradition of inserting ink under the skin was first used for ritualistic purposes.
In other parts of the world tattoos maintained a high status form of artwork. Too expensive for the common person, tattoos were a fashion amongst royalty such as King George V Puma Classic, Grand Duke Alexis of Russia, and King Harold. This fashion then spread to America, after the European Americans saw the Elite of Europe showing off their rare body art.
There is much argument and debate as to when and where the practice first began, some researchers claiming that the process of tattooing began as early as 15000 years ago. It is more commonly known that some of the earliest tattoos were found on some Egyptian mummies dating back to 2000BC. The Egyptians tattooed women with designs, usually consisting of dots and stripes.
In recent decades tattoos were associated with gangs in the western world. Gang members bore tattoos to show their loyalty. Tattoos such as tear drops below the eyes Puma Complete, and spider webs on the elbows were used to represent how many people a gang member had killed. It was only in recent years that the tattoo began to shake free of this association, although gang tattoos still exist.
During the Second World War, soldiers would often get tattoos to symbolize their love for their country, their homes and their families. Tattoo shops were often located near army bases and docking areas. Birds, fish, women, mermaids and battalion symbols were popular choices.

Why do people get tattoos? For the girl who watched her tropical fish through the glass, and sizzled with envy at their range of colours, tattoos are a form of expression. For the man who’s learnt a valuable life’s lesson a tattoo is a continuous reminder. For the person who’s reached a significant point in their lives, a tattoo is a diary entry, on the road map of their lives so far. For any person who has suffered the loss of a family member or close friend, a tattoo can represent a memorial, and a way of keeping that person close to them forever.
The Changing Status of the Tattoo
In Japan Puma Outdoor, tattooing began to thrive between 300 BC and 300 AD. At this time tattoos were seen as a symbol of social status, expensive artwork which was difficult to come by. It wasn’t until much later that tattoos were used to brand criminals in a practice called Bokukei.
With the invention of the electric tattoo gun, tattoos became accessible to everyone, therefore dropping in status. They became popular with circus folk, who often sported full body tattoos and facial designs.

Japan was the last country to put an end to the marking of criminals in 1870, when tattooing was outlawed in Japan. You might say it’s ironic that Japanese designs are amongst the most popular tattoos in the world.
Where it all Began
