Pakistani media regulatory authorities Tuesday imposed penalty on two private TV channels for airing interviews of the assassin of the Governor of Punjab province nfl jerseys, Salman Taseer who was killed by his police guard in Islamabad on Jan. 4.
Malik Mumtaz Qadri told the media after his arrest that he shot Taseer as he had described blasphemy law as a black law.
A statement from the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) said that the TV channels "were repeatedly airing interviews of the assassin."
"The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority on Tuesday imposed fine on two satellite TV channels Tiffany, amounting to one million rupees (about 11628 U.S. dollars) each for projecting terrorists and airing blood and gore Wedding dresses," the statement said without mentioning names of the channels.
The PEMRA immediately took cognizance of the violations committed by the two satellite TV channels while covering the unfortunate incident of the assassination of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer on Jan. 4, it said.
It is the first time that the PEMRA imposed fine on any private news channel for violation of its rules. |
