According to the information released by North-Sportif,Nike Air Max 90, no reports of incident or injury based on the use of the product were received. However, the closing mechanism on the clothing violated the federal standards for garment safety in children’s clothing.

The vests and jackets for boys were available at Burlington coat Factories across the United States from October 2002 to January 2010. Both articles of children’s clothing were produced in China. North-Sportif Incorporated issued a recall on March 31, 2010 on a children’s product distributed to Burlington Coat Factories. North-Sportif found that the vests and jackets failed to meet the industry standards on safety adopted in 1997. The Consumer Product Safety Commission also issued a report in support of the recall in an effort to warn as many consumers as possible.
The jackets and vests had tags with the words “North Sportif” printed on the label. The kids’ garments were available in both small and medium sizes. The small sizes ranged from 8-10 while the range for medium was 12-14. North Sportif Urban Expedition is visible on the tags of both items.
Boy’s Vest and Jacket Recalled by North-Sportif
The jackets had drawstrings located on the hoods. The drawstrings on the vests were located on the waist of the garments. The locations of the drawstrings posed either a strangulation or entanglement hazard. To comply with federal safety standards a child-freely closing mechanism should be utilized. Safe closing methods included Velcro,Air Max 90, buttons,Nike Air Max Wright, elastic, and snaps.
